So I put my ignition switch back in and got the steering wheel back on and now when I push my horn in there's just a buzzing sound from the dash and then the XJ stalls out and dies. Horn worked fine before. What gives?
I did wrap a layer of electrical tape around the top of the switch as kind of a shim because the switch was a little wobbly in there. Would that have anything to do with it?
I wonder if it isn't that electrical tape that did it because it was kinda of hard to start when I got it in there. I tried to listen for the fuel pump to kick in and it either didn't or it was much less audible than it usually is. Just wanted to get the opinion of the hive mind before I tore it apart again.
I just removed that little metal flex ring to pretty much disable the horn. Took it on a 12 mile round trip to get some gas (it was low and in the red, could maybe have been the hard start issue?) and it ran fine. Much ado about nothing, I guess. I'll just figure out a way to rig up the horn differently to toggle or something, I suppose
