Weird Noise from somewhere?

Hello all, again!

Hope all is doing well, and having better weather than here in MI. I've gotten a recent.. problem? My 99 Cherokee 4.0L has been making a really strange noise, and I cant even locate it properly. Whenever we get driving, it randomly starts up. I haven't found anything that makes it better or worse. It sounds like when you have power windows and are trying to raise or lower the window (closest thing to it that i can think of). It sounds like its coming from the shifting lever/4WD lever area, or possibly the lower console.

Things I've tried:
Turning on and off the air/heat.
Switching to 4WD
Higher/Lower RPM

Other than that I have no idea what to try. So if anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Do people really have no idea, or?...

You never said what it sounds like. How are we suposed to guess a sound if we have no idea what it sounds like.

You question would be like me asking a color of a 99 xj. No pic....no description......
But tell me the factory color code.

Still vague. Standard window noise? He said trying so....clicking?

A wurring noise?
Wind noise?
Electric noise?
Mechanical noise?
Auto? 5 speed?

Quit being vague people and we may be able to help you.

I really have no idea. It sounds like a mechanical thing, but possibly electrical? Its now wind, it happens when it's not moving, and moving. It's an automatic. Hard to describe, it's the RRRRRRRRRRR sound. It sounds like when the window is moving down or up, like the window motor sound, I think. It's so hard to describe.

There are many RRRRRRRRR sounds, When you hear it try to find it, Look under the steering column up by the firewall.

Try and find it, Also try too feel around for vibrations. Could it be noise in your speakers? Some kind of buzzer? Does it do it only when car is cranked? Or with accessory on? Next time you hear it, Stop the car See if it does it in Drive while on the brakes And or in neutral. Then try turning motor off but leave car on.

Kinda hard to diagnose a "RRRRR sound" without being there..

grab ahold of the 4WD shifter when it happens and move it from one side to the other, or push it to the floor to take up any slack. I get a vibration from my 4x4 shifter in all modes (2 wheel, 4 wheel hi and low) but it goes away if I put pressure on the lever and take away any slack that's in the worn out bushings.

Can you get a video or some kind of recording of the noise. That might help if it is loud enough.

I've had the problem too with the shaking 4wd lever. I'll try n grab an audio or video of it when it happens. It only happens when the engines on, even with audio on or off. It's not the 4wd lever though, its a different sound.
