Default Weird Idle Issue After Changing TPS

I few months ago I bought my 96 XJ with 260k from one of my friends. It has a issue where it doesn't like to shift automatically like it should. If I take off in drive it accelerates super slow until about 15-20 mph where I guess it finds a sweet spot and picks up revs normally. The temporary solution I found was just shifting it manually, rev matching from 1/2 to 3rd to drive. My friend thought it might be the tps and I did research and another person on here had a similar issue with his jeep same year and he changed the tps and it helped. Well I did that, and not only did it not fix the issue, but now when idling, it randomly goes from stable to 1k, back to stable, then 15 seconds later 1200, etc etc. The only thing I noticed that improved was the tac seems more responsive in relation to when I push on the accelerator pedal. Anyone else have any other possible diagnosis? The one I replaced was stock as far as I know. I replaced it with oe spec from Napa

If you got an aftermarket TPS, it may not be much good. Sad, but true. Check it with an analog voltmeter to see if if sweeps smoothly. I'll bet it doesn't.

On the trans shifting issue, first thing is to adjust the TV cable. Simple 5 minute job. Then go from there.

I did go for an aftermarket one. It's NAPA Echlin I think the name is. I was gonna buy a duralast one from AutoZone but I did research and people were saying don't go for local store brands for sensors it's best to go with either Mopar or napa
