Default weather stripping kit

Hello all.
I'm going to be installing all new weatherstripping on my 4dr xj and thought I might be able to save a bit of money by buying a complete kit but i can seem to find one for the xj. Does anyone here know if some sell a complete kit?

Thanks
Steve

You talking about for the doors? If so I have never seen one. Also somebody here was not really happy with the aftermarket ones he used on his first build and payed the money for Mopar ones on his second.

Hey roller, have you considered going to a junk yard and just pulling the best weatherstripping you can find from other xjs? I've been doing that for a while. Tho.. I think I'm going to spring for OEM window scrapers.

Thanks guys. What I mean by kit is total.. everything . Doors, hood , hatch etc. I'd rather have new stripping .. i'm not much into raiding junk yards (just lazy i guess). I didn't think factory would be an option for a 1989 jeep .

for an '89?... You MIGHT be able to find the parts you need at an older Dealership. I restore old Honda Trailbikes for the fun of it. And I've learned to do a little research on the local dealerships. You WANT the place that looks like it's been around a while. Even better if you walk into the parts area and find an older fellow scowling at you. HE's the guy who might, (if you talk to him a while and let him know you're a true xj caretaker.)... walk into the back and bring out a package so old that its covered in decades of layered dust.
I've gotten some pretty cool OEM stuff for the vintage Honda Trailbikes I fix up, by looking for, and visiting the older, worn-out dealerships.

very good advice outersketcher. I guess my notion was that there was a company like soff Seal that made complete kits for these cherokees. Doesn't look like there enough demand for that. Geuss I'll just start accumulating the parts. Your advice on the old dealerships is fantastic.

Thanks
Steve

Another thought would be to grab the parts catalog (if you can find one) for your year and find the Mopar part number and start doing some google searches.

I've also found that very large dealerships that have been around for a while are more likely to have certain hard to find parts.

I read somewhere that the doors are interchangeable across a surprisingly wide range of years, so it may be that the weatherstripping for an 89 is exactly the same part # as the one for an 01. If that's the case, then it might be easier to find than you expect.

Team Cherokee has a kit but it costs around $300. Covers all weatherstripping.

I pulled a liftgate weather strip off of a post 96 Cherokee and installed it on my 96. It did not work. It leaked. They redesigned the liftgate in 1997. I would think any weather strip from any XJ up to 96 would work if it is in good condition.
