Waterproofing

Ok so i have an ARB snorkel and i thought taht was all i needed for deep water crossing, not that i ever do deep water crossing but at least i can hit water and never have to worry about how deep it is. But, the intake isnt the only thing you have to protect. because whenever i go through deep water my car acts funny does a lot of wierd stuff i thikn i need to keep my distributor and fuel stuff clean of water, has anyone ever waterproofed this stuff? alternator stops working every time i go offroading like a day later, i have to spray it with water to get it working again. The other day i got in the car and tried to start it and it was starting just not turning over, finally gave it some gas and it started up but almost stalled at first... anyway just wondering if anyone had any ideas to prevent further water damage... otehr than staying out of the mud/water :)

seal the distributor with silicone. make sure your door seals are tight, no holes in the floor.

That's what i do....or used to do. The new xj i have doesn't have one. For the alternator, i've seen some muddin friends take milk jugs and make a splash shield with a bracket holding it over the alternator. They install it before the run and remove when leaving. It works rather well.

Can you get any pics of the milk jug shield?

Not really. That was back when i was in college at RIT around 2002. I didn't own a camera at that time. It wasn't pretty but it sure worked. Alternator stayed colorful while everything else was brown. :)
