Water pump whistle
Does anybody else have a constant whistle that comes from the water pump? From Day 1 my jeep has always had a whistle. I took the belt off once... No more whistle. I have replaced the water pump, Same whistle.
This happens at all rpm ranges, it doesnt change pitch's... And only happens with the belt on.

whistle? like bearing whine? bc i get a vacuum whistle every so often from random crap, but its not the waterpump.
if the pump is making noise it should be replaced bc the bearings are on their way out. and DONT cheap out. i went through 4 cheap reman waterpumps in 2 years. finally put a new bosch in and its way better.

Its sounds like a vaccum whistle. But it doesnt happen when the belt is on. When i replaced the WP the sound never changed at all. So i dont think its the water pump bearing. It is possible that i could be another pulley, but it sounds like its coming from the water pump.
It doesnt sound like a squeal though, its like a soft whistle, like a vaccum would make.

Ok i took the belt off and spun the pulleys. The waterpump is the one that makes the noise! But it made that noise since it was new. And the old one made the same noise. Do you really think the bearings are bad?

Its a reman. I checked the bearing for play and there wasnt any. Wouldnt play in the bearing or some kind of metal squealing noise mean and bad bearing?
