I did my water pump, and opted to replace the metal pipe with a hose barb.
Problem is that 3/8" NPT barbs is not a common thread for fittings here where i live, I spent several hours driving to hardware shops to get a hose barb,
I bought one long and one short, as I wasnt sure what would fit. Well. None of them fit, the rubber hose will interfere with the thermostat housing, its so tight that even though i managed to get the hose on. The hose clamp would not fit.

Any suggestions?
I havent seated it all the way down on the picture below, but you get the idea.. Seems like the angle is wrong?

The metal pipe from my old waterpump was not going to come off in one piece. And no parts store here have jeep parts, so my best option was to get a hose barb.

Yeahhhh kind of reinventing the wheel here, no? Not sure where you're located but there are plenty of places that carry those heater hose tubes. 4.0's were produced for a longgggggg time.
