warning noise replacement?
ok so you all know the annoying buzzing noise when you have your keys in the ignition and the door is open.
does anyone know if it'd be possible to replace with something more of a chime? something a little more pleasant?
I could just rip it out i guess, but I would preferably like to leave it in just in case I'm forgetful one day.
ideas? are all xj's created equal with this warning sound?

go get a turn signal switch and some form of electric sound making mechanism that you would like better and wire it up.

I've seen some for other vehicles that look like a relay...
Not sure what the one in the XJ looks like, but I imagine it's similar.(could be wrong-have been before and no doubt will be again).
If it does look like a relay, check around and swap it out

hmm, no one with anything different? I suppose i could rig something up, but honestly it seems like a lot of effort for something sort of minute.
if it was like a package related thing or a model year thing i could easily swap in a different one.

I think its fun to build the little things that make your jeep, YOUR JEEP. Go to the library and look for the book 10000 and 1 simple circuits (i think thats the name) you would be supprised what little cool things you can make you jeeps do with real basic circuits

this is true, it would be cool to make my own original sound.
guess its also something to occupy my time with since i have no money to spend on other mods!!

back when i was into stero stuff(before jeeps) i had three amps on actuated racks. when i opened the trunk they would pop up. The book i told you about showed me how to build a simple circiut that would delay them 2 seconds apart from moving. cost me 5$ to make circuit and it made the accuation 20 times cooler.
