Hey forum, my new (to me) xj came without an antenna for the radio. This is what the mount looks like:



I ordered an after market antenna, it's currently on it's way in the mail, and its suppose to just screw on in place of the original. It's called antennax 13". The problem is I ordered it before looking at my antenna mount on the jeep and I don't know if I'm missing something or what. Here are step by step pics showing what's still in place.




^This piece was able to be just pulled out. It wasn't even screwed on.




^The black piece just lifts out too. Can anyone tell me what that rod in the hole is?




^As I said, it just lifts out and exposes some threads.




^This is what's left after removing everything. I feel like something must be missing. I haven't received the after market antenna yet and I'll know more when I get it but can anyone take a quick look at their antenna and tell me what's missing if anything? Maybe share some pics.

No one responded here, but I figured out that the issue was that the stock antenna on my Laredo was actually a motorized one. I removed the entire assembly and replaced it with a standard antenna mount from a 96 Cherokee Sport. I then added an aftermarket off road model made by Antennax.

If anyone is interested to see how I did it without removing the passenger side fender, I made a quick youtube video.
