I'm wanting to rebuild the motor from the jeep in my signature, it has 340,000 miles on it. My main concerns are longevity, fuel mileage, and low vibration, but I would also like to do some off-roading so a little extra power without sacrificing much mileage would be nice. What kind of aftermarket internals are available for the 4.0? Can I do a stroker using the 4.2 crankshaft and connecting rods without upgrading the fuel system? I read that the HO head in the '91 and newer 4.0s is a lot better than the standard one in my '87, can I swap my head with the HO without modification?
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

put the old amc258 crank and rods in. it will make your 4.0 into a 4.5
