Greetings,

I want to add an overhead console to my 2001 jeep cherokee.

The console I can get is from a 1998 cherokee limited. All I have under my headliner are 3 wires (3 pin plug) going to the center overhead lamps (courtesy lamps?), 9 wires (skinny 12 pin plug) going to the remote keyless entry circuit board (stock), and a couple single(?) wires going to each sunvisor mirror vanity lamp. The 2 wires for the ambient temperature sensor routes from behind the bumper to probably the firewall (not sure if it stops there).

Can I get the overhead console (compass, trip computer, temperature) fully operating with the existing wires?

I have under the headliner or do I need to run some wire? Describe the hassle (if any) if I don't get the harness (just the console) from the 1998 cherokee? CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THE OVERHEAD CONSOLE AND THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY CIRCUIT BOARD SHARE THE SAME WIRES?

Ya know, the internet, so far, does not have all the answers. The people selling the console are not too helpful. Could someone please share their wisdom? This would be a nice accessory to my Jeep.

I'm in the same boat as you (back in June) and want to add the console to my 2001 Cherokee. Did you do it? Anything I should know about installation?
