Does anyone know how to fix this? My voltage gauge reads low even though alternator and battery are at 14.5v
It does fluctuate based on what power items are running, but never above 11.5v on gauge.
I think (aka not sure) but the gauge is fed it's information from the PCM as that is what controls the voltage regulation of the alternator. I would start by making sure the connections are clean and trace the wire to insure there is no damage that may be shorting out the signal.
It's a Renix, not fed from the PCM. The gauge is notoriously inaccurate and it's also highlighting voltage drop through the undersized wiring, and inadequate grounds as well. My 89 reads about that with the blower on high but measures correct at the battery.
Lawson is correct, my 88 read horrible volts. The volt wire on the large wire connector on the the cluster is #3 slot TAN-GREEN. I ran 12 wire directly from the battery and spliced it to the cluster, I now get a very clean and accurate reading on the gauge. You can also improve you dash ground to see if that helps first Cruiser 54 tip 18.
