Default very bad oil leak

I have a 89 jeep cherokee that has been leaking a lot of oil for the last couple of weeks. Now it's starting to burn oil and smoking from the oil on the exhaust pipe when I drive.anyways,I was just seeing if i could get any ideas what would cause this oil leak? it seems like it's leaking from the pan but i can't really tell since it's all over the place lol. but ideas would be good! thanks!

mine leaked oil from every were too, but if it just started leaking then i would look at the oil filter, valve cover gasket bolts then the pan bolts, see if there loose, if its the rear main seal you have some work to do.

Could be the rear main seal also or the valve cover gasket. What I did is to power wash under the motor then take it for a ride and see where its leaking from...Tj

The only thing I'd add is to check the oil filter housing too. Where is mates with the block there is an o-ring that has been the major cause of my oil leaks on both of the cherokees I've had. When this is leaking the oil runs down to the back of the motor and looks like rear main. Washing the oil off and taking it for a drive and checking to see where the leak is coming from is definitely your best bet
