Valve & Spring Order Mixup
Replacing the cylinder head of my 2001 XJ 4.0L. Beautiful reinforced head came in from Quadratic, but now I realize I have a problem. When I had the old head cleaned and inspected, I hadn't removed the valves and springs. He did it for me with no regard to order. I intended to reuse those parts due to serious budget constraints. Everything else is in order and good to go, but I'm worried about putting the intake/exhaust valves and the springs in randomly when everything I read stresses back-where-each-came-from. I don't have to money to replace the parts at this point. What am I facing as far as consequences?

new cylinder head with old valves? at the very least those valves need lapped. i presume the rest of the valvetrain will be reused, as well? id inspect all pushrods and rockers very closely at the mating surface and plan on getting new hardware as soon as possible. are the old lifters still in the block?
no matter how it’s played, you are asking for trouble. consequences are premature part failure, timeline nearly impossible to determine.

Thanks all. I took it to a machine shop as suggested. I suppose I should have bought a head with a valve train, as I'm only saving about $50 now, but live and learn. They had no concern at all about the valves being out of order or even reused.
