Default Value of 90 xj?

what does everyone think the value of a 1990 xj with 120xxx miles on it, 4.0 inline 6, standard, nice paint and interior, reg. locks and windows, working ac/heat? I'm new to the board and I wanted to ask people who know

I would estimate an XJ like you described would go for $1700-$2000 in western Washington.

rule of thumb- a running/ driving 4x4 that can pass emissions/inspection is worth absolutely no less than 1500 dollars. Heat and Ac? Now we are getting into fancy territory- put it at 2k OBO.

I've read up on the xj's only for a couple of weeks and I respect the potential of one like this, just wanted to see what others thought. I'm pretty sure it's legit and it runs great, needs all new fluids and filters I'm sure but if I give the man 1500-1700 it's a good deal right?

BTW, what does the "Part Time" light mean?

part-time 4x4. use it only offroad, or your Tcase could bind and split.

Yeah, you'd probably be doing OK to get it for less than 2K....That's pretty low mileage for a '90, but MAINTENANCE is key...does the seller have receipts?

I understand what part time 4wd is, just wondering if it's normal to have the light come on everytime it's engaged in 4h and 4L? Stay On? etc

No receipts, but the kinda man who keeps his things up. Besides the rubber around the windows that's cracking a bit, wiper on the rear, and no radio, the thing is in excellent shape.

Sounds like a good solid XJ platform...
Did you check the underside of the floorboards for rust?
That can be a weak spot, if you're in an area that salts the roads in the winter.

No snow where I live and the underneath looked fine, the jeep looks great I just want to make sure I'm getting the fair price. So does the Part Time light always come on when it's in 4wd, or does it indicate something?

Well here's the deal, it's really an 89 with 113,000 miles located in Jesup Georgia. Like I said, manual 4.0 and the paint is 2-3 yrs old. The man told me today he would take $1,250 for it clear title The 4wd pulls awesome and it's been well taken care of. I know it's a great deal and I really like it but Id rather put the money to other uses so if anyone would like the information then let me know.

FatLighter, Yes, it is normal for your "Part Time" light to come on and stay on anytime you shift out of 2HI into 4HI or 4LO.

It might have the BA-10 transmission in it. I had one in an 89 xj, and it never let me down. There are A LOT of guys that will tell they are junk, but mine performed flawlessly the entire time I owned it!! FWIW, I beat the living crap out of that Jeep with 33" tires on it as well!!

I'd say buy it anyway. I paid $1000 for mine it had a 3" Rusty's full leafs and 176,000. I bought it in MD. Having a true 4x4 is fun and very useful at times. But mine has the AX-15.
