A buddy of mine gave me his whole intake sit up (intake manifold, injectors, throttle body) off of his 96 xj but I have an 88 xj. I can tell that his intake manifold is different then mine will this work.

dont think the "renix" and HO manifolds will swap due to differences in the ports on the heads.....

the ports are fairly close, you can port with a dremel to make everything work, but it's recomended that you update the head at the same time.

...you'll also have issues with the TPS from your renix xj fitting on the high output throttle body.

The tps is easy plug swap... did it on mine... map sensor on mine plugged right in though... my TB came from a 94 though... they all had different plugs once they went HO really...

nope, all the same plugs once they went H.O. in the late 90's they added a third sensor to the throttle body.

...the renix had different plugs between auto and manual for the TPS.

negative... i have a 98, 01,89, and 94 TB... the 94's map sensor plugged right in and was the same as the 89 but the map sensors were different... there all 3 wires though and although the sensors read different they send the same info... i spliced mine in... middles are the same and then you just plug up the outsides to each other if i dont run right swap them... mine runs fine... ive got a 01 intake, 94 TB, and 89 wire harness still... i think it was 96 on the ZJ's they started the 3rd sensor for smog crap but you dont have to use it... i know for sure they were on the 98's

i think the 98 and 94 TB's are the same but they use different sensors and have different plugs... the TB for the 01 is the same as the 94 also but with that added sensor... and different TPS and map sensors...

ah, you're correct 91-95 are the same connectors, perhaps 96 as well. from then on up the connectors should all match each other.

so the 91-95 map sensors are the same as the renix which makes the renix to HO swap easier for people vs. 96+ HO swaps... i was going to do a write up on it soon but gotta finish with school cause im way to busy... i spent a whole weekend fixing my HO motor and renix parts that the ding dog did before me...

I'd term what you did as a renix/H.O. hybrid...an H.O. swap entails every little H.O. part that's in an H.O. vehicle.

i didnt do it... ding dong that i got it from did it... went to install a 01 intake and nothing was right and i figured out what he did... so i had to swap abunch of parts like throttle cables, fuel lines and yatt yatta... but it worked! even with renix alt and ac pump i used a 98 power steering and belt tensioner pulley and it bolted right up... and found a belt to make it all work...

now do i get the full HO benfits from the ECM... no... but got everything else... if the ECM did anything different anyway... i dont think it would... just reads sensors that dont give a motor extra HP like crank and cam sensors anyways maybe something different with controlling injectors but i doubt it... i think there arnt any benefits in HP to the HO ecm... but maybe im missing something...
