Default Unplugged Wiring harness on 96 xj, I don’t know where it goes.

Hi Everyone, Two days ago I purchased my first Jeep and purchased a 1996 Jeep Cherokee classic with 256k miles. It needs a few things done to it but I am hooked on it and in love. It’s currently completely stock. I was looking under the hood and found a wiring harness unplugged and can’t find where it would go. If you look on the picture it’s the one in the middle.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I could be completely off base...but it looks like the plug that plugs into the O2 sensors on my 98.

Welcome to the forum!

Hood light is likely suspect.

Thanks guys. I inspected the hood and it is missing the hood light so it may be for that. I will have to find one for it.

What Pat says here. Also note the 1996 was a transition year to new things, and those things didn't get added to the 96s. So you will probably keep finding unconnected harnesses as you wrench away. Good luck.
