Underside Weather Protection

What do you guys that live in the northern states (JakeWI?) with bad salty roads use for underbody protection against the rust?

If nothing else maybe just some ruber undercoating?

Here in Maine, I definitely have this issue. My plan is to clean up everything underneath (sandpaper, steel brush wheels, etc.), then POR15 or use some kind of rust converter on the entire undercarriage (I've heard that ospho is a cheap alternative). Then just rhino line the whole thing. That's my plan at least, hopefully I'll get to it by the spring. No garage, so it's too late this year.

i live up in Wisconsin as well. i dont know about Jake but i got my Cherokee from a dealer. Before i bought it they asked if i wanted an under body treatment for an extra 100 bucks. They sprayed a hard plastic close to rino-liner all over minus things that shouldent be sprayed. the stuff they used is from du-pont i dont know the name off hand i got the paper work someware ill get that back to you.

POR-15 sounds like a great idea, if you already have rust it must be scrubbed down to bare metal.......or close to it.... I did the rubberised under coat deal about five years ago, what was some what rusty turned to super rusty in about 8 mounths. Which lead to a commpleate floor pan replacment. The rubberised undercoating trapped the moisture and made it rust that much faster.

Alot of XJ's in the sait belt rust from the inside out, from salty boots and water that get into the carpet, Esp the drivers side fot well.
