Um, axle grease? 
Seriously though, the inside end, no. That goes back into the carrier and will get lubed by the gear oil inside the pumpkin. The end that goes into the hub, I'd use some general purpose grease on the splines to keep it from rusting into the unit bearing. Something like a waterproof moly grease. Any kind is probably fine.
