u-joint question
ok so i bought some u-joints from autozone for my front axle of my 97 cherokee. the pass side one was gone, no needles left in the cups. so i got it apart no problem. i take the new one out and the damn thing is smaller than what is on my axle. i have non ABS. what part number joint do i need? the one i got from vatozone is pdq 1-0174 but is wrong, the cups are too small in diameter. any info is appreciated

yeah... the thing is i had the u joints shipped to me here from america to germany (im us military). i called the chrysler dealer near here and the fella spoke english. took down all my info and the vin and said he can have the u joints here in the morning, but for 70 euro!!!!!!!!! i about threw my phone at the wall.. thats about 100 american plus the 19 percent tax.. i think im screwed either way. wait 3 weeks for autozone or pay out the @** here in germany from the dealer... just want to make sure i have the right one. i am taking the old one with to the dealer tomorrow morning.

I tried to buy 297 U-joints for my sons XJ at our local Autozone and they told me they don't even stock them. So, I drove down the road to the Napa store and gave them my business. They had them and gave me the right ones no problem. Let me give you some advice. Autozone is great to get a good price when you know exactly what you need. If you actually need a parts counter with a knowledgeable person and guranteed to have the part you need, always go with Napa.

Anytime I buy U-Joints I always ask for the Precision brand book/catalog. That thing has never failed me, if you ever go into the Oreillys in Gate City, VA and ask for U-joints they immediately goto the book. I worked Oreillys for 2yr and Advance for about 1 1/2yr and the precision book never failed me

tell the parts guy to give you the spicer 760-X ujoint they are a 1310 series joint
it replaces the 297-X
don't let the part guy order buy vehicle just the spicer part# 760-X
or you are in military maybe your motor pool department can help you

GO to www.aafes.com and to the centric mall. They have a few auto parts shops on there. Or try the PDO yard
