Default turns over but won't start

The other day i got a little carried away, and I caught air in my 1987 jeep cherokee. now it won't start. Does it have a crash sensor that shuts off fuel? The fuel pump builds up pressure, but there is no pressure at the rail

Welcome to the forum!

How have you verified that the fuel pump builds pressure?

You may be able to "rent" a fuel pressure gauge from one of the auto parts stores for free. The deal is you 'buy' the tool, use it, and take it back for a full refund. There's no deposit. Keeps it simple for them, and if you never get around to taking it back, well, no problem, you paid full price for it. If you do take it back, no problem, they rent it to the next guy, and you probably buy parts while you're in there. Win for both.

I think both Advance and AutoZone have this program.

Most places do not rent anything that handles chemicals. Such as fuel pressure gauges. Perhaps a person can get lucky and find a place that does, but I haven't seen one in a while. The good news is that they are not terribly expensive to own.

autozone does in fact rent out fuel pressure testers. have you crawled under and looked at any possible broke wiring?

I took the fuel filter off and tried to run the pump into a bucket, but it didn't pump anything. I have not checked for broken wiring though

87 may not have one.

You need to verify spark and fuel pressure. Anything else is just a guess.
