Do your emergency flashers still work? If so, perhaps your turn signal flasher has simply gone bad. They're inexpensive, available at every parts store on the planet, and easy to replace.

Look for 2 round (can) looking things on your fuse block under the dash. One will be the turn signal flasher and the other will be your emergency flashers. The one at the top of the block should be for the turn signals. Pull it out and take it with you to the parts store to make sure they give you the correct one.

I think your 2000 has a module of some sort to control the flashers/turn signals.

IIRC on the 2000 the flasher module is a square cube that looks like a relay. Hidden behind the dash just under the headlight switch. You can remove the lower knee panel to get at it.
