Default turn signal issue

Ok so i got a 99 cherokee sport for a winter beater a few months back and about a week ago i noticed this...when i go to use my turn signals sometimes they will work correctly but other times instead of flashing they will stay solid. I then thought this might be a issue with the hazards and when tested that sometimes it will light only the left signal but solid or it with light both left and right but rather then flash they will stay solid. Now since this isnt an every time thing i let it go but now its almost always will stay solid but sometimes will flash. However when they do flash sometimes it will flash for like 8-10 then go solid...anyone else have this issue?? i was thinking this would just be a relay but when i called the local auto parts story they tried to tell me it was the fuse but I was a gm service tech for almost 3 years so i'm not stupid and this isnt a fuse issue this is a relay of some sort but does anyone know which one or where it would be located? I called the jeep dealer and they said there maybe one but they arent sure where it is unless i talk to one of there techs so i figured i would ask on here. Thanks guys

There is a flasher relay in the back of the junction block located under the dash on the drivers side. It's been a while..... but from what I remember it looks like a regular relay but taller. I have also seen a shorted multifunction switch cause a similar issue.

Might just be a ground issue too.

I'm with Blue. I had ground issues with my tail lights that caused this intermittent turn signal problem you're having. The corroded grounds were drastically shortening the life of my tail light bulbs, too. Check all of the light sockets of the lights that blink with your turn signal on. I guarantee you'll find a corrosion problem or a loose ground. If you find your sockets to all be in good shape, I'd swap out the flasher. It might be just starting to go bad so it's screwing up intermittently.

For what it's worth, mine exhibited the same symptoms and I replaced the flasher which solved the problem.
