Default Turn signal fuse keeps blowing out.

My turn signal fuse (15 amp in the fuse box in the engine compartment) blows out when I use 4 ways or use the right side turn signals. My guess is there's something wrong with the right side bulbs or wiring b/c the left side works fine until I blow the fuse then nothing works. But I can't figure it out and I'm not exactly electrically inclined. I keep blowing out my fuses and then I have no directionals. Please help me out guys. This is gettin old.

There's nothing wrong with the bulbs. Wires i dont know about thats like searching for a needle in a haystack. Could it be the multifunction switch/turn signal switch?

Wasn't clear on the year but my 99 xj limited there is a harness that loops out into driver and pass doors front with power wire for the p windows and rear tail and signal lights. Get a bulb / 12v ice pick tester and if you have no power with ignition on and signal or brake actuated it's likely your power wire broke from harness when doors open and shut and it's shorting on metal or another broken wire. On mine there is rubber flex boot that wires run inside of

Pull the bulbs and see if it still blows the fuse. If it doesn't, install one bulb and try again. If it doesn't blow check the socket on the remaining bulb, if it did, check its socket and reverse the proceedure. I know that about 4 more fuses, but it's a process of eliminations. Or you could use an ohm meter and check the socket power
leads to ground.

The simplest way is what Patriot told you to do. It will cost you a few fuses in the process, but hopefully you will figure out the offending light in short order. It's entirely possible that one of the sockets is the culprit. It could be corrosion bridging the circuit or combining with the dielectric grease used by the factory en masse to do the same.

Thanks guys. Ive tried the process of elimination and we didn't really find anything. Eventually I put in a 25 amp fuse and the signals work. Sometimes. The left works all the time regardless. The right only works sometimes. When it doesn't. It just flashes dim, doesn't short out.

Also same thing with hazards. They flash dim when it's (not working)

Does your Jeep have a trailer wiring harness that some bozo wired into it? If so, start looking there.

You are asking for trouble putting a 25A fuse where a 15A belongs. Trace the circuit and look for a short. You might also have a bad flasher.

Does have trailer harness. The leaf spring shackles need to be replaced and I think they've hit the wires and I wonder if that could cause a problem.

Uh, yep. Poke your noggin up under there and see if you have any bare/crushed/cut or otherwise compomised wires.
