Trunk wont shut.

Trunk wont shut.
I was wheeling last week and i guess the knocking around caused it to pop out. but now when i close my trunk it doesnt hitch at all and bounces back up. How should i fix this?

seen this on doors so I guess it could happen on the hatch, too.
Take a look at the latch mechanism in the hatch. There is a "finger" that swivels around to catch under the loop mounted on the floor when the hatch is shut. With the hatch ope that "finger" should be swiveled around so it is sort of inside the hatch/locking mechanism. When the hatch shuts the loop on the floor will hit the "finger" and swivel it around to latch under the loop.
Take a look at it and make sure it hasn't swiveled around to the "shut/latched" position while the hatch was open. Put the key in and turn the lock to the unlocked position, grab the latch handle and move it to the open position while trying to swivel the latch finger back into the hatch. If thats the problem squirt some lube on it and then shut the hatch and it should work correctlly again.
