I have a 1990 xj 4x4 with a 4.0L, AW4. My AW4 is slipping when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I found an AW4 out of 1995 xj. Would this AW4 be compatible (plug & play)?

I followed the kickdwn adjustment procedure. I did the procedure correctly but the gray halfmoon button was very difficult to press and hold through the procedure. The gray button didn't press in very far.

Diesel,

I didn't know that but it revs very hi before it shifts and sometimes I have to let off the gas and back on it to get it to shift.

Press the button and followed the procedure this time the cable mech. moved considerably. I will be taking it on some test drives in a bit to see if that corrected the problem. Not sure why the kickdwn adjustment would have anything to do with it not shift from 1st to 2nd though?
