Default Transmission Mount

Hi all,

About to replace the trans mount on my 99 Cherokee (automatic). Anything I should know before I get started? My main concern is the bolts that hold the cross member on breaking when I try to take them off. I've had bad luck with that in the past when removing my rear shocks and my driveshaft. Has that happened to anybody or should I not worry about it?

His^ story is all too common. I used 50/50 mix and soaked it every day for three days and gently applied pressure. It's a 15 mm, six point IIRC. I was lucky to get away without breaking a bolt.

There are a couple holes on each side of the uniframe rail that you can squirt up into so it soaks from the top down. I don't know if this is what worked, but it's what I did. Good luck and don't rush.

I'll bring a little light to this apparently dark subject. I had a parts jeep in which someone wanted the bolts that held the mount. This was the first time I'd ever done it so after looking at the jeep I figured out how it needed to be done and did it, no problems at all. Bolts were a little stiff but broke loose with very little persuasion and no cheater bar.

That being said this was on a parts jeep where I don't care to much for its wellbeing, on my jeep if I had some difficulty and was considering a cheater bar I'd first hit it up with some PB or something similar.
