Transmission Line leaking at Transmission

4 Attachment(s)
Went out for a drive today and noticed my tranny is leaking. Looked up underneath and its just a line, luckily. The line is leaking at where it goes into the transmission. Its pourin out pretty quick. Im guessing it needs to be replaced? There isnt any cracks/holes any damage on the line itself anywhere. How hard are these things to replace? I took some pics.

Well I'm glad I found this thread, I'm having a trans fluid leaking problem also. Hopefully when I get underneath my truck again i can tell where it's coming from

Ok so i found a diagram on Jeepforum and it looks like this is the Pressure line. Not sure if that really helps me at all though cause i still dont know how to fix it.

Well I cleaned underneath my jeep real good with carb cleaner while I was on break at work, when I get home I'm gonna put card board underneath to hopefully trace the leak. I'll let you know if I find anything. Maybe were having the same problems. My 4.5" lift is dying to be installed

Thanks for the PN. You think the problem isn't the line then but the input thing itself? How hard is to change one of those?

Probably because it wasnt running. Mine doesnt leak at all when its off. But once i start it up it starts flowing. Try startin it up in Park, then crawling under with a flashlight and pinpoint where its coming from.

Anyways, found the part at Oreillys, only $10, but im not sure itll fix the leak. Has anyone had this problem before?? Ive been lookin online and havent been able to find anythinig similar to this problem. Also, how do the transmission lines insert into the connector? Is it just a push in deal or do i need some sort of fitting?

Well my problem was that I noticed it leaking after it was sitting overnight. But my trans temp is good and I'm not having any shifting problems so

I would think that but its not leakin from the base, its leakin from where the line goes in. I can see theres some sort of plastic clip on the connector piece and maybe its broken inside or come loose inside or something.

Heres a pic of where its leakin from, if you can see the lil circle.

Ok so i bought the new Connector piece that the link goes to above. I got the hardline out of the connector, but cant unscrew the damn thing. Anyone have any tips? Its such a frikkin akward place to get up to.

Tattookid85 09-21-2011 11:42 AM

Well my leak is not coming from any lines. I'm stumped on where it would be coming from

Cherokee40 09-23-2011 11:59 AM

Mine was a bit tight, and I was thinking...I am going to break this thing!.....but I finally got the right angle on it and was able to break it loose. It took a 7/8" open end wrench. I hope this helps!

Yeah mine is on there good, ive reafed on it like crazy and it wont budge. I bought a 7/8" socket but its so hard to get any leverage laying on the ground lol. Im gonna try jackin it up this weekend so i have some more room to work with and hopefully ill be able to get it changed.

Oh btw, when im putting the line back in the connector, do i put that little plastic clip on the line itself then insert, or put the clip inside the connector, then insert the line?
