Transmission help

1 Attachment(s)
There is this eletrical piece on the transmission im trying to take it off to put it on the other transmission i have that is going to go into the jeep.. well i cant seem to get it off and i dont know what it is for i didnt see a c-clip on the shaft that its on either i have a picture of it ill attach. but my last resort was to just cut the plug off and splice it in onto the other transmission because the guy who i got the trans from he cut off all the connectors. but there is also this one plug that goes into the drivers side part of the transmission then has 3 plugs on it and plugs into the things by the transmission filter well i was wondering how i can seal that plug up where it goes into the trans it does have a rubber piece around it but i was thinking like rtv silicone or something? i dont have a picture of that but i can get one if needed. Thanks

That's a neutral start switch. If it's a manual tranny save yourself the time and go buy a new one for around $25. If it's an auto pray you can get it off in one piece cause it costs almost $300. I tried to take mine off for cleaning once and could barely get it to wiggle. The walkthroughs I have read say it should just slide off but I couldn't get it to happen. Good luck.

Remove the nut from the shaft after bending back the retaining tabs. Remove teh adjusting bolt. Spray the shaft area liberally with a good penetrating oil.

Use a wooden shim shingle behind the switch to slowly pull it away from the trans. Once it moves, remove the shingle, push it in and pul on it some more. Spray with penetrant. Repeat the use of the shingle etc until it comes off.

The shim shingle?

No I used a wider screwdriver

Well, you get the idea. Whatever you're using to wedge it, keep it close to the center/shaft area of the switch,. Not the edges.

Yeah. Don't matter at this point, sold it 2 weeks ago lol.

Alright thanks guys if it doesn't work then i have another one it's just on the other trans that's going in. It just doesn't have a plug so I may have to splice the other plug on if I can't get it off.
