Transmission Cooler!
Okay, My XJ did not come with the towing package but I installed one. From what Ive seen the ones that come that way have the transmission coolers. I have a trans cooler but dont have it on. Would I half to tap some holes in my trans to install it? What all is involved? Just curious since I have a cooler already.

Just cut (use a tube cutter) one of the metal lines running from either the return or supply (there's lots of debates as to which one is best, but to me the one that is best is the one that's easier to access) and increase the transmission cooling circuit there to your cooler. You can also bypass the factory plumbing into the radiator altogether, but I recommend you keep it if you live an area that runs cool in the Winter, because the radiator helps regulate the transmission temps.
Also, there are lots of threads on this very subject and some very helpful reading. I'd suggest a search.

I have a diagram of the XJ factory routing for the cooler somewhere, i'll dig it up. Still need to plumb mine in.
You dont want to eliminate the reservoir in the rad, but add to it so theres more fluid.. thus a cooler operating temp.
