Transmission

I have a 99 XJ, I plow snow and pull a trailer in the summer with it and also hit some trails when im not workin. I know i will be needing to rebuild the trans. sometime soon and would like to get ideas about how to "beef" it up some so i can still do everything I need to with it. It is an auto trans.

Hi, As far as I know the AW4 is one of the strongest Transmissions you can get. They last for 200,000-300,000 miles if taken care of (mine has 220,000 and going strong) I personally don't think there are any extra things you can do to beef it up except add a cooler on it. I tried to order a kit from B&M Transmissions for mine and was told they didn't make one...Tj

I agree with TrekkerJmm an oil cooler is a great thing for any tranny that pulls or plows and here in fl its a must with the heat. If you cant find a kit there pretty simple and it wouldnt take much to mount any trans cooler to fit.
