Im trying to figure out why my cherokee (5spd) from time to time surges, or opposite that of, the rpms fall quickly then back to normal within a second. It doesnt really seem to surge like this while cruising. Ive been thinking maybe its the transmission?? How can you tell if your tranny is goin bad? Im freakin out cause Im 350 miles from home, due to drive back on Weds hoping to make it. I made the trip fine but just worried on the return trip Any info is always much appreciated!

Surging wouldn't be a symptom of a manual going bad unless your clutch is really worn and slipping really bad.
