Default transfer case swap

I have a 2000 trans i have mated to a 96 engine. The transfer case is also a 96. Ive noticed the 00 trans has a 4 prong black thing on the shaft of the trans. The 96 has a 2 prong more oval shaped thing. Im assuming this is a sensor (magnet) for the sensor on the side of the adapter to the transfer case.

Do I just swap the sensor thing or? Seems the adapter for the transfer case won't fit with the black four prong thing on the shaft.

I have no idea what a four prong black this is. Can you post a photo of it.

The 2000 transmission uses an input and an output transmission speed sensor. The 2000 transmission Input speed sensor is blue and can be seen on the left side of the transmission near the gear selector. The transfer case adaptor for the 2000 transmission is unique to the 98-01 AW4 transmission in that the output speed sensor mounting geometry on the adaptor is different than the previous years, therefore you'll need the 98/01 adaptor to mount the output speed sensor.

Clear as mud?

Okay, I think I know what you are talking about with those pronged things. They are the rotors for the transmission output speed sensors. The rotor for a 98/01 transmission will need to be installed.

Also, refer to what I said about the transfer case adaptor.

Yep, I am picking up the adapter tomorrow. Thanks for the help!
