Transfer case help

I have a 93 cherokee 5spd 4.0. Bought it with a bad tcase np231. We got another one from a local salvage yard out of a 93 AT 4.0. Its in the jeep now and works great. The problem were having is that my factory tcase came with a 3 prong plug in for the speedo and a short speedo gear with 30 teeth, but the one we got is 2 prong long shaft with 34 teeth, needless to say i have no speedo now. whats the best route to go to get back up and going?

Take your old connector off and put it on the old gear from the new t-case. So to clarify...because I sometimes confuse myself...take the gear from the junk yard t-case and put it on the connector from your original t-case and use it that way. The speedo will be off and if thats a major issue you can get a new gear from below.

If you have lifted or changed tires, this would be a good time to put in the right gear for your setup.

Yep swap the whole speedo assembly, gear and sensor. Guts are the same.

Use it with the original sensor that has the three wire on the gear from the new t-case.

If that does not work because of the type of pick up, use the original sensor and order the right length gear for that sensor.

Short and long gears cannot be interchanged they take different housing.

Read this. It is from another forum... It may help you but I'm not sure. You may be able to do as they say and just disregaurd the 5-8 v wire.

May be a way to get it going.
