I have a 1997 cherokee 4.0 and I going to rebuild the transfer case and I found that two different size input bearings. How do I know which one I have??? Thanks for the help.

 

Is the xfer case apart at the moment? Most bearings are marked if you can see the markings. Sometimes they are hidden by flanges, etc. But should be a number etched on them. That's the most sure way to get the right replacement. Otherwise, drop your xfer case number and build date into Google asking about the bearings. Something should come up.

A 1997 NP-231 will almost certainly have the narrow bearing.

Thank you, I had read that in 1994 there was a change but I wasn't sure.
