Default Trans trouble?

Got stuck in mud that was a lot deeper than I expected and had to winch twice to get out. When I put it in drive it would barely move. Didn’t matter if it was in drive or 1-2. Let it sit for a week and now everything seems normal. Did I just get it hot or do I need to start looking for a transmission?

Well what kinda temps did you see with your engine coolant?

Whats the color and consistency of your current transmission fluid?

Check your transmission fluid level first. Sounds like you probably just overheated it. The mud packed around everything acts like an oven. Letting it cool for a week fixed it. If it's acting normal now and the fluid level is good, you likely got lucky. Just keep an eye on it.

If it really was fluid, because it was that hot, which is insanely hot, you definitely need to swap out the old fluid for fresh. At least two, maybe three drain and fills.

Coolant level never got out of normal range, around 200 deg.

Fluid is kinda brownish red in color Had planned on changing it this year anyway so i will be doing that.

Should I do several drain and fills or flush the system? I'm a little afraid of a flush because of some things I have read.

Any brown is bad.

Never ever flush. You can google why.

Safe procedure is do 3 drain and fills, drive 200-300 miles between drain and fills.

Then hope for the best.
