When you say it won't go into gear do you mean the transmission won't shift into any gear?

That was going to be my other question. Did it shift fine before you changed the clutch?

If your pedal feels normal that should rule out the clutch fork and air in the lines.

What type slave do you have? All the replacement slaves ive gotten doesnt have a bleeder screw so you have to do it the hard way

Did you resurface your flywheel? I'm starting to think resurfacing an XJ flywheel is a no-no since everyone that does cant get the clutch to disengage.

Its either the hydraulic system or the clutch.

This is a common problem, try to do some searching to find the other threads.

edit: Oh, do you have any floor mats? remove those and anything that can get between your pedal and the floor, like a fold of carpet or something. After replacement the clutch should disengage right off the floor until it wears itself in. Mine worked after i removed the carpet, then drove it for a while w/o it and put the carpet back in and never had problems again. well till i started blowing out slaves every couple months but thats another story

I'm about 98% sure that is not your trans or tcase. You have a clutch issue, better to start with the simplest and cheapest and work up. If the trans worked fine before then i would rule that out. Did you replace the pilot bushing in the back of the motor?

If you have access to the materials and tools, i recommend making a push rod for the slave that is 1/16-1/8 longer than the one that in there and see it works after that

ive narrowed it to something in the trans mainly the shift forks for the simple fact that it wont even grind the gear
