Default Tranny and tcase swap Qs aw4/np231-->aw4/np242

Alright so I have a 92 xj Laredo, has the aw4 tranny and np231 tcase, the tranny went south driving work(front seal went out, all the fluid drained, and I kept driving for a good 10 miles past to get to work, stupid me I know) and I figured since I'm pulling a tranny from the jy, I'll do the tcase too cause I'm tired of goin in and out of 4wheel(those who live in co can understand), so basically my question is this, what all do I need to do to make a np242 work in my xj? I shouldn't have to worry with spline count cause I'm pulling the tranny and tcase as one from a donor jeep, and idk if this will have any effect on answers but I have 4.5 rc lift with a 1" tcase drop, straight pipe exhaust with no cat(no emissions in my county woopee)

just pull the trans and tc out and the older stuff in. thats what i did.

So would I need the shifter linkage from the donor or can I use the 231 linkage?

use the 231 one stuff its all the same. i have a 1991 that i was daily driving and i was wheelin it and i grenedaded the tc. and all i had was a tc and trans outta a 1988 so i just slapped that stuff in ther and i have been drivin it ever since. but im putting my 231 and original trans back in becacuse i gotta do rear main seal and i just want a 231 for wheelin. because the rigs just a wheeler now.
