Default Tranny swaps

I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee and I am wondering if a 1997 transmission will work in it I think it has a different harness and sensors but is there a way to swap out the sensors with mine? Thanks for any help!

I'm no expert, but wanted to put a 97 trans in my 98 and was told the 97 lacks a sensor and there is no worthwhile way to make it work, better off to find the newer tranny.

There are lots of 2000 XJ transmissions in the junkyards.
