Default Tranny Problems?

I have a 1990 Cherokee. 4.6. AW4 trans. 242 t-case. A couple of days ago I had some wires short out. The reason they shorted is because the previous owner rigged an ignition killswitch under the dash and it was too close to the jeep frame so it would spark sometimes when it started. Then it did a really big spark one night and smoke was coming out of my hood vents and it wouldnt even turnover after that. I took it to a shop because I couldnt find the problem and the guy there replaced a fried wire that ran to the fuel pump and then it started again. After i got my jeep back it doesnt run the same. When I picked it up from the shop, on my way home the transmission would randomly downshift and the upshift right after. Then a couple miles later it wouldnt shift out of the gear it was in. Even if it reached 5000 rpm. And when its not shifting gears it seems like its only halfway in gear cuz when i give it gas it revs up but the jeep only moves a little bit. Also occasionally now wen im starting from a stop, the engine revs up, not like its in neutral, but like its somewhat in gear and just doesnt wanna move. Now it wont even shift out of first gear. It seems like theres not enough power to the tranny to make it shirt. Before that I NEVER once had a problem with the transmission. It shifted into every gear perfect with no kicks or jumps or anything at all. My transmission was gone through and checked a couple thousand miles ago and everything was fine. Im figuring its electrical because it happened right after the ignition problem occured but I have no idea. I havent found any fried wires to replace so now im stuck at home. My brother said it may be the torque converter because thats what it seems like it is but i dont know. If anybody else has had this problem please let me know what it is. Or if you can tell based on what ive wrote then please reply, any input will help. Thanx
