Hi all, i bought my jeep a few weeks ago, when i bought it i drove it home and noticed that 3rd and 4th gear are very jumpy, it would knock back and go forward, slip, jump, knock itself into neutral and rev. after a few days of driving the oil was brown, i replaced it and cleaned the filter, and did it again , to flush all the sh$t out, also i found an electronic plug under the passenger front side which i unplugged and forgot to plug back in when i pulled the dash to peices, when i took the jeepy for a drive i noticed the gears would change i had to manually do it (1-2, 3, D), Now when i was driving it like a manual the gears didnt jump or anything it actually felt good to drive, so i left that plug unplugged. Has anyone ever had this problem? Does anyone know what is going on? and also does anyone have any comments about this?

 

My 1996 Jeep Cherokee had problems shifting automatic - I dove my jeep for 6 months or more manual shifting then replaced one of the solenoids in valve body fix the problem -you can check the solenoids with volt ohm meter - there should be 11 to 15 ohms

 

Ok no worrys, so i am safe to drive manually??, if it involves doing that i really couldnt be bothered, just so long as the jeep pulls my boat and last me 6 months
