Track Bar Play
I continued the search for my DW problems today, and noticed about an 1/8 inch of play at the tie-rod type end of the track bar when the steering wheel was being casually wiggled back and forth. Could this be the cause? I'll try to get a vid up here within a few hours.

Yes it can and most likely is the problem. "ANY" movement at all in your upper (Frame) or lower (Axle) joints of your track bar will potentially cause Death Wobble or play in your steering.

Great, thanks guys. My camera's dead so I can't get a vid... but it sounds like thats not even necessary.I'm looking at advanced auto... they have the OE Brand, for 55, with a 1 year warranty, or 87 for a TRW bar, with a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Think its worth going for the lifetime one?

That depends on the amount of off-road sunday drives your vehicle takes every month. I replaced the trackbar in my retired 88 cherokee 3 times in 12 years. The auto parts store either had a 5 year warranty or lifetime (can't remember), and after the 3rd replacement they said the company no longer warrants the trackbar. Maybe that's why the're out of business. If your hitting the trails and bouncing the jeep around mud ruts, I would definily go for the lifetime. I found some suspension parts from Auto Zone are not up to quality of TRW and I shop there too.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up going with the TRW. I put it in yesterday, and then made the trip back to autozone to return the tire rod puller from their loan program. Didn't fully cure the DW, but its a heck of a lot better. Of course on the way there, my tail lights went out and I got pulled over for that... found a short, fixed it. Then on the way back my check engine light went on... another long day of troubleshooting ahead.

I am getting DW at 25mph on any sort of bump...going to replace the RE track bar bushing when it shows up in the mail, hopefully thats the issue. Do you guys recommend getting another alignment when I get my 33's? I currently have 31's.
