TPS? have to flore it in the mornings to start
Hey i have a 1992 limited xj. I have an autostart on it and ever since i replaced my fuel filter and since it's gotten cold, every time i auto start it in the morning it fails
It tries twice but after 5 secs each time it stops.
New battery
New alternator
New Wiring
Thinking it might be my tps. It was acting up since i first got the heep and i just unplugged it. I ordered a new one and it'll be here soon.
Anythoughts on what else it might be
I do have a crack in my one battery terminal but it is still tight.
Ill get a new one soon

Try the tps and if you still have a check light try O2 sensor or just a tune up. When my tps went out it would still start but it was a stumble start that didn't take that long maybe 2 sec max. And there was a flat spot around 2300 rpms it would slightly miss could barely tell unless it was in N and you were looking for it.

If your TPS is the problem, the computer has probably stored a code. Code 24, IIRC.
Have you tried reading the codes? Just turn the ignition switch On-Off-On-Off-On, and watch the flashes of the Check Engine light.

both. it just wants fuel. as soon as i touch the gas, it'll stay starting and idle fine. It might have started right after i replaced the fuel filter. do i need to prime it some how? or what.

My son's '91 is doing this same thing. Haven't had a chance to sort through it yet. But here's what I've done on his, and these don't seem to be the source of the problem.
1. PCM is clear of codes.
2. New cap, rotor and spark plugs, correctly gapped.
3. Timing has been verified as ok.
I've got to head to work on a graveyard shift, I'll check this thread in the morning when I get home.

1. Try that new TPS. You have it ordered anyways and it is a primary suspect.
2. Verify fuel pressure with a gauge while it starts to see if it is staying within spec. Gotta use a gauge here.........

I had a similar issues on my 99 Cherokee. I replaced the TPS with a new on and it didn't help. I replaced the IAC with a new one and Bingo. I would clean and check your IAC. Mine was clean but the pintle was all the way extended. The new pintle was push in most of the way..
Just a thought.
