Towing pigtail routing

I was wanting to get XJ set up for towing but the pigtail for the trailer lights is in the rear cargo area. How does it route from the inside cargo area to the tow hitch?

Thanks,
Russel

Behind the plastic piece that is behind the spare tire cover. There is a grommet that the wire will come out at the bottom of the quarter panel behind the left bumper cap.

I'm bumping this thread since I have a similar question. I ordered one of those T-connectors with the tail light converter that plugs into the wiring behind the driver's side trim panel. I plan to run the 4-pin wiring out the grommet in the trunk-fender area as everyone recommends and seal it up tight with silicone. What I'd like some advice on is what to do with the pigtail when it's not in use to keep it from getting all messed up from water, mud, sand, salt, etc. I take my Cherokee offroad (mud, sand, rocks, etc.) so want to be sure it's secured and protected. Any tips?

When I bought my XJ, the PO had just left it lay on the floor of the cargo area and put it out thru the hatch gasket to use. Before I could do anything better, the module shorted out and the whole harness went up in flames! After rewiring everything, I don't have a trailer tow harness anymore, but only use the hitch as a recovery point anyway. This POS won't be around much longer anyway. Besides my WJ pulls better.

If they don't come with your kit, a bracket and rubber plug can be purchased separately:

Interesting. What did you attach the bracket to?

The tow bar itself.
