Torque Pro - Can it Read Oil Pressure?
Hey guys,
The oil pressure sender seems to be crapped out on my '01 4.0 manual. I have checked it with a mechanical gauge but for the time being would like to view it with my OBDII scanner and the Torque Pro app. I can't seem to figure out how to get it to read engine oil pressure with the app though.
Has anyone done this? Is there a special PID to get this information up on my dash?

It's reading 80psi on the gauge so I'm thinking the sensor is sending a signal and not malfunctioning completely. I'm just wondering how to add an engine oil pressure data collector within the Torque app, as I don't see one from the list of things it can pick up from the ECU when I add a new display.

If it's reading 80psi on the gauge, but the mechanical pressure read OK, then you know the sending unit is bad. Why don't you just replace the sending unit and then you have a real-time reading conveniently located on instrument cluster.
Like Extrashakey said, since the sending unit goes directly to the gauge, how is the ODB2 going to access that information.
Even if the ODB2 can read the Oil pressure, it would be getting it from the sending unit anyway, so you'd still have to replace it.
I could be wrong, but I've never heard of any other way to determine oil pressure other than the sending unit port.

96 does not have a data pid for oil pressure. You can't read it via OBD2. (not sure if any later XJ years added it).
