toe in for lift
 

does anybody know what the toe in should be for around 5 inches of lift. I just put on the rugged ridge steering system, and I got my toe in set to zero, but it looks a bit off. The passenger tire is at more of an angle than the driver's. I tried to go to the same distance from knuckle to knuckle that the stock steering was set at. But I would have no threads left on the TRE. Any advice would be awesome other than take it to an alignment shop. That will be the last resort.

Tampa, The method I have always used, is to measure center to center of front tire tread on the front side and back side. Adjust the tierod until you have the same distance on both measurements. I know this is a crude method but, it works good for me. Even at 6" lift on my XJ, this method still worked.

yeah, as buck said, measure tire from treadblock on front to exact treadblock on rear of tire.

231 t-case likes to have a zero toe in.
242 t-case likes to have 1/8" toe in.


if you're maxed out on one side, you might wanna turn your tie rod so the threads are even on both sides.

if it's beyond your skill, then take it to an alignment shop. full alignment is about 60 bux and they just might find something you overlooked. ie, castor adjustment or track bar alignment.

I got it now, I think it was just a bad spot in the driveway that was throwing me off. My steering is alot stiffer than stock, and it drove straight up to 55 mph. Thanks for the help.
