Default Tire size on a Turdy5?

Dangit. I know this has been covered time and time again, but I simply cannot find it on a thread search (where is that thread searching for dummies book?).

What is the largest tire size we should run on a crappy Turdy5? I'm not sure what my gearing is, but I think it is the 3.07 (since I have a manual trans).

Thanks,
s

my wife wheels the snot out of her 5 spd tj with 3.07s, d35 on 33 inch trxuss. never a problem.
i have 33 inch destinations on my 5 spd tj with a d35, 3.73s. wheels fine.
both are posi.

i definitely wouldn't do 35s tho. even tho i threw on my 36's once for chits and giggles. drove fine on the street, but wouldn't think about wheelin it.

if you want a reliable rig, 30's max anything larger and carry spare shafts

if you want to play with fire you can go larger, but prepare to get burned.

Alright, so when I'm looking to swap out axles, I know the 8.25 is better than the 35, but what about years? For example, is a 91 8.25 better than the dana 35?

(my 20 month old wanted this smiley in the post).

go with the 97 and up 8.25 with the 29 spline shaft or you could get an 8.25 27 spline and swap the shafts and carrier to 29 spline... im doin that to my 27 spline when i get my air locker
