tire question

will 31x10.5s scrub with a stock suspension and no cutting on a 1990 XJ?

31's will not fit on a stock xj unless you trim. So yes, they will rub.

thanx. guess ill b lookin for a slightly smaller tire till it gets a lift.

from what iv read and heard and experience the biggest size you can go with no rubbing and not having to trim is 235x75x15

I have 30x9.5's on my 2001. They drive fine with no rubbing.
Keep in mind, though.. this is for street driving. I got rub as soon as I flexed my suspension a bit off road...

Not a deal breaker for me, since I have my old beater XJ for trail riding and my new one is mostly a pavement princess. But yeah, 30" fit fine if you're not doing anything other than light trail riding, but past that they'll rub.

thanks for the help. im lookin into gettin a 2 or 3 inch lift for it aswell

You could cut, and put fenderflares.. That will give the added inch of clearence you need without a lift. ( i was told )

I went with the 3" lift myself tho.

i talked to mty brother and we might try the cuting and putting wider flares on. his boss told him the same thing.
