Hi Folks,
I'm slowly getting my beloved '92 back to a nice fit and finish and I've moved onto replacing all the dew wipers on the windows, well, since I'm going to be popping the trim pieces off, I might as well refinish those as well. So my question for the team of expert here is what techniques / chemicals have you used to remove the plastic?
I've tried acetone which seems to soften it a bit, (modern) paint stripper which doesn't touch it, and heat from a heat gun, so far none are particularly great at removing the plastic coating and I'm worried about damaging the black plastic end caps pressed into the trim pieces. So what's every one's suggestions on getting this stuff off without destroying the trim pieces?

You mean the the plastic that covers the metal frames around the windows? I've never done it and I'll guess few have.
Try removing the trim and use a heat gun. Some of mine is naturally starting to peel off.
If that's not it, then provide some pics so the rest of us know what you're talking about.
