Last night I used one of those auto zone 134a bottles to recharge my A/c on my 2001 xj with 125k. don't got the funds to have a shop recharge it so I went with the other route. With my last xj I used the bottle to recharge the system and it worked with no problems. But now with my 2001 when I finished extracting the bottle into the system....the compressor turned on like it should but it kept blowing hot air. BUT I also noticed a burning smell when I finished emptying the bottle. I'm guessing it was the compressor? Don't know much about a/c systems so I tend not to mess with it. is there anything else I can check myself before I take it to a shop to get it looked at? the compressor does run when I turn on the a/c just doesn't blow cold air.
